Can all the king’s horses and all the king’s men put golf’s Humpty Dumpty back together again?
Tiger Woods is sidelined for an indefinite amount of time after undergoing surgery on his right ankle to address post-traumatic arthritis caused by injuries suffered in his single-car crash in Los Angeles in February 2021. Woods withdrew during the rain-delayed third round of this year’s Masters in April after showing considerable discomfort walking the hills of Augusta National in bad weather.
Matt Fitzpatrick Wins at Harbour Town
When the love affair began, it wasn’t the golf. “It was the tennis,” said Russell Fitzpatrick. “We put Matty in tennis lessons when we came here.”
Clay, of course. Proper tennis for a proper young British lad from Sheffield whose parents, Russell and Sue, would bring their two boys to the Sea Pines Resort, tucked quietly into the far end of this island. On the first holiday, in 2000, Matt Fitzpatrick was six and the family vote was unanimous for return visits “so we came countless times,” said Russell.
Hardy and Riley Cherish First PGA Win
The nerves coming down the stretch of a PGA TOUR event never go away – certainly not when you’re in search of your first TOUR win as Nick Hardy and Davis Riley were Sunday.
Conventional wisdom might say it’s easier at a tournament like this week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the lone two-man team event on the TOUR schedule. There’s another person to bounce ideas off. An extra set of eyes around the greens. The final-round format of Foursomes only requires each player hit half the shots. That should make it easier, right?
Hardy and Riley disagree.
Additional information about the event:
Price - $75/player ($300/team) - this cost covers 18 w/ cart, lunch, hole contests, and prize payouts
This is our first time hosting a big hole event in the Spring. It has been a very popular event that fills up quickly, so we wanted to expand.
Below are details from our big hole event last fall. All this info applies to this year's spring event.
Reminder: We are a BYOB course. If you would like a cold one on a cold day, you must bring your own cooler!
- Format - 4-person scramble! Each player on the team will hit a shot, after which you select the best ball and repeat the process until it's in the hole. You must HOLE OUT. There's a big hole for a reason, no gimmes!
- Tees - Men's - White ~ Women's - Red ~ Seniors (65+) - Gold
- Fix your ball-marks! Rule of thumb: the common practice is to fix yours + 2 more
- Please keep pace with the group in front of you! We have a crowded field. Respect the other groups behind you!
- Please keep the carts OUT of the long grass
- 1 club rule: you can place your ball within one club of the selected shot. No closer to the hole and no changing of the lie. i.e., you cannot improve your lie from the rough to the fairway.
- Please tap down the hole after you pull the flag stick, as it may lift up the cup.
- Most importantly. Please be honest! This is not the FedEx Cup playoffs... It's the 2022 Big Hole!
- Please bring your cart down to the barn afterward. Turn your scorecards into Brendan!
- $40 cash skins sign up
